SEAVIEW - If you share a vision of providing a safe, nurturing environment for children, you may be a perfect candidate for Camp Victory.

Each year in October, Camp Victory sponsors a camp for girls in Pacific County, ages 5- to 18-years old, who are survivors of sexual abuse. Children and carefully selected adults share camp activities and fun in a safe, supportive setting on the Peninsula.

"Big Buddies" receive 30 to 40 hours of training provided by Camp Victory staff in areas of sexual abuse, child development, communication skills and camp activities. All "Big Buddies" must pass a Washington State Patrol criminal history check.

The camp also benefits each year from the assistance of 'Angels' - men and women who serve as kitchen and clean-up crews and provide invaluable support to the four-day camp experience. Participation in camp is a tremendously rewarding experience which gives the satisfaction of contributing to the lives of young survivors in healing ways.

An evening information/training event is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 28, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Peninsula Church Center, 5000 "N" Place in Seaview.

Those interested in participating, either as a "Big Buddy" or as an "Angel" should call Joan Huber at 665-6033 or the Camp Victory office at 665-2888 before Aug. 31. Please leave your name, address and phone number.
