Cantwell's 'consitituent services roadshow' to visit Ilwaco this Friday

Sen. Maria Cantwell

ILWACO - U.S. Sen. Maria Cantwell's constituent services roadshow is visiting Ilwaco on Friday, Oct. 15, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event will take place at the Ilwaco Community Building, located at 158 First Avenue North.

This occasion and others like it around the state provide one-on-one consultations to help Washingtonians access federal programs or navigate the federal bureaucracy. Officially called "The Cantwell Community Connection," the tour consists of 11 one-day stops over a four-month period where members of Cantwell's staff will be available to meet with individuals seeking casework assistance with federal agencies.

"One of the jobs that I have as a U.S. Senator is to help connect Washingtonians with federal programs that can help individuals and their families," Senator Cantwell said. "I want to make sure this process is as easy as possible, and so this fall I will be sending my staff to a community near you. I hope you take advantage of this opportunity to work one-on-one with my staff, and get answers for the questions you have."

Members of Cantwell's staff will be available for assistance on a range of issues, including housing, veterans, military, social security, immigration, health care reform and taxes. Examples of casework assistance available include:

? Help obtaining unemployment benefits

? Request for assistance to help with a home loan modification

? Request for assistance to obtain a Green Card, work visa, or to become naturalized

? Seeking reimbursement from Veterans Affairs for medical expenses incurred

? Issues and concerns involving military deployment issues

? Issues involving Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) after returning from deployment

? Help obtaining the status of an international adoption

? Request to help obtain Social Security Disability Insurance benefits
