OCEAN PARK - Carl B. Bondietti, 75, died Oct. 5, 2002 in Ilwaco. He was born Nov. 6, 1926 in Guadalupe, Calif., to Anthony and Nelle (Tomlin) Bondietti. He had been married to Joyce Lundholm since 1951.

Mr. Bondietti was raised in the Guadalupe and Santa Maria areas in Calif. He came to Astoria in 1948, working with the Army Corps of Engineers. From 1951 through 1954 he worked as a patrolman with the Astoria Police Department. In 1954, he started working at the Clatsop County Sheriff's Department and became Clatsop County Sheriff in 1959. He retired in 1983 from the department and he and his wife Joyce moved to Ocean Park.

Mr. Bondietti enjoyed his retirement. He loved cooking, stamp and coin collecting, and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was a member and past board member of the National Sheriff's Association, member and past president of the Oregon Sheriff's Association; member and on the Board of Directors of Old Fort Stevens; American Legion Post 12, and 40 and 547; Columbia River Maritime Museum member, member of Clatsop County Historical Society, and BPOE No. 1937 of Long Beach.

Survivors include his wife in Ocean Park, daughter and son-in-law Dena and John Marsch of Astoria; son and daughter-in-law Carl J. and Laura Bondietti of Oregon City, Ore., father-in-law Ed Lundholm of Astoria; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jerry and Yvonne Lundholm of Coos Bay, Ore.; grandsons Carl Bondietti of Santa Maria, Calif., Rod Marsch of Astoria, Tad Marsch of Warrenton; granddaughters Kara Bondietti of Santa Maria, Calif., and Claire Bondietti of Oregon City, Ore.; great-granddaughter Brianna Marsch of Warrenton; and brother and sister-in-law Lester and Betty Bondietti of Lompoc, Calif., and numerous nieces and nephews, and cousins.
