OCEAN PARK — Brilliant weather, razor-clam tides and a summer-like torrent of out-of-town visitors combined to create havoc on the Ocean Park beach approach over the weekend.

According to an Observer reader, lack of maintenance of the approach contributed to many vehicles getting stuck in the soft sands. A towing firm was doing a brisk $50-per-rescue business, extricating frustrated motorists from their plight.
