NASELLE - "As part of the Senior Projects class, students were required to teach a lesson to their class. Ultimately, this was a public speaking assignment, but had elements of organization, planning and even a little class management," teacher Rob Dalton explained.

"We have had some great lessons so far. I really like this assignment because it allows the students to showcase some of their own knowledge and talents. The lessons have ranged from cooking lessons, art lessons, sign language, and some fishing techniques.

"Neil Wirkkala (of Neil and Jordan Inc.) taught a bass fishing lesson. After introducing the class to the basics (spin vs. bait caster), he demonstrated when and how to use the technique of "flip and pitch." All of the students got to practice for 15-20 minutes, and then Neil organized the group for a pitching contest.

After the lesson, Neil and Derek Johnson demonstrated how to land "the big one. Don't worry, no hooks were used in this lesson," Dalton laughed.
