SURFSIDE - Char Wolters of Lighthouse Realty in Surfside recently received word that she was selected by Washington Association of Realtors to be one of 20 Habitat for Humanity home builders that will visit Slidell, Louisiana in September.

"The real estate business has been good for me and I want to give something back in return," Wolters said. "I am thrilled that I was one of 20 selected from our state to be able to help rebuild homes damaged by hurricane Katrina." The hurricane hit August 29, 2005 and Wolters will be working the week of September 15-22, 2007. "I can swing a hammer, handle a saw, and am handy with tools," she stated.

Although much of the core of downtown New Orleans and the tourist section of the city have been restored, outlying areas are in many cases still exactly as they appeared the day after Katrina devastated the area nearly two years ago.
