Chili Cookoff coming this Saturday

OCEAN PARK Ñ ItÕs time again for the annual Chili Cookoff Ð the battle of the beans Ð the showdown of spices. Saturday, Feb. 12, from noon until the pots are empty, six cooks from Ocean ParkÕs United Methodist Church will show off their keen culinary skills for a fundraiser. The public is invited to dine on chili and cornbread and then vote for the best chili recipe. Cost is by donation only and benefits the churchÕs Backpack Ministries, which sends backpacks full of food home for weekends to 10 area children, ages one through 11. The backpack program is held in conjunction with Ilwaco Kiwanis. There are donation collection points at OkieÕs Thriftway, KeyBank and Strand Insurance.
