CHINOOK - As the last official summer weekend nears, many beachgoers will make one last trip to enjoy their favorite activity. But those that aren't out fishing or playing in the sand may be in need of something to fill time before their barbecue dinner. So why not take a break in the day and cruise over to Chinook to check out the third annual Chinook Arts Festival?

The festival will feature juried handcrafted art, such as oil paintings, watercolors, jewelry, fused glass, blown glass, photography, prints, mixed media, wood pieces, torch demonstrations and a Give to the Troops fundraiser booth. According to event coordinator Debbie Patana, approximately 70 percent of festival's pieces will be various glassware items, such as fused glass and blown glass.

Artists and vendors are chosen through a specified application process to ensure the highest of quality. The Chinook Arts Festival will be held Labor Day weekend, Sept. 1 through 3 at Highway 101 and Olympia Street in Chinook. Admission is free. Festival hours are from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday and 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday.
