LONG BEACH — S.A.W. Construction Co., Inc.’s owner and general contractor Steve A. Waltemate and company president Rob Waltemate are applying the finishing touches to the new stage.

Sean Menard, S.A.W. employee, a Marine veteran himself, has been busy shingling the outside.

The stage hosted its first performances over the annual Loyalty Day celebration. The city of Long Beach and Mayor Bob Andrew provided the huge American flag proudly draped over the back of the stage. Project manager Gayle Borchard surprised the city with the custom veterans signage placed on the south side of the new building.

Local sub-contractor Ford Electric Inc. provided electric installation with most building materials supplied by Oman and Son Builders Supply. G M Solum of Astoria applied the roofing.

Steve, Rob and Sean are all local graduates of Ilwaco High School, growing up and continuing to live here on the Long Beach peninsula. Locals were surprised to see 65-year-old Steve up among the rafters still swinging a hammer.
