ILWACO - The biggest show in town Saturday night was at Ilwaco High School's big old gymnasium, packed to the rafters with proudly excited little brothers and sisters, beaming parents and assorted other well-wishers who gathered to witness the graduation of the Class of 2009.

It was a small-town ceremony rich in the hopes and aspirations of the young, families fanning themselves with programs on the warm upper bleachers as a cool June breeze wafted in through the open doors. You could have charted the progress of the proceedings without ever setting eye on them by listening for the cheers that greeted each pair of graduates during the processional, followed by laughter and applause as each senior was profiled in an imaginative slide show.
