CANNON BEACH – A Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew and a Cannon Beach Fire and Rescue crew rescued two women from a cliff near Cannon Beach Sunday evening.

At approximately 4:50 p.m., watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Columbia River in Warrenton received a call reporting two women stuck on a cliff at Chapman Point on the north end of Cannon Beach.

The watchstanders dispatched the Coast Guard aircrew, which then safely hoisted one of the women. She was then transferred to the Cannon Beach Fire and Rescue crew and evaluated by local emergency medical services (EMS) at approximately 5:15 p.m.

The second woman was assisted off the cliff by the Cannon Beach Fire and Rescue crew and transported to Cannon Beach Fire Station and local EMS. There were no reports of serious injuries.
