Eagles anniversaryOCEAN PARK - Ocean Park Eagles Aerie No. 3602 is holding a celebration of their 34th anniversary with visiting dignitaries and special events starting on Jan. 23. On Friday, there will be a buffet at 6 p.m. for $6, with a nine-ball tournament starting at 7 p.m. Then on Saturday, Jan. 24, will there be an eight-ball tournament from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and a banquet dinner starting at 6 p.m. Enjoy the Swiss steak dinner for just $8. 50 year basketball championship reunionILWACO - A 50-year reunion for the 1958-59 state class B champion Ilwaco Fishermen basketball team and cheerleaders will be held in the old cafeteria across from Carl Aase Gymnasium Saturday, Jan. 24 at 6 p.m. Everyone is invited to reminisce with the players and "yell queens" and enjoy cake and refreshments. Following the junior varsity boys' basketball game against the Knappa Loggers that evening the group will be honored. Anyone with pictures from the year Ilwaco won their only state basketball championship in school history is invited to bring them to share.

Singer Zack Freiwald makes an LB stop on western states tourLONG?BEACH - Eastern Oregon singer/songwriter Zack?Freiwald will be making a stop in Long Beach as part of his current tour where he is playing shows in California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana and Colorado. Freiwald will play at Cafe Akari, 203 Bolstad Ave. West in downtown Long Beach on Jan. 29 starting at 7 p.m. This is a free performance, and copies of his new CD will be available for purchase.

Pinewood DerbySEAVIEW - Cub Scout Pack 29 will hold their annual pinewood derby on Saturday, Jan. 31 at the Peninsula Church Center in Seaview. Representatives from the Beach Barons Car Club will be on hand to officiate and judge as well as present awards to the racers. Members of the Beach Barons have even built their own pinewood derby racer. The event starts at 4 p.m., with weigh in of the cars (they can't weigh more than five ounces), followed by racing.
