Funland named WellSpring’s Asset Builder for September

Don Epping of Funland receives his Asset Builder of the Month award from Mary Goelz of WellSpring, a group committed to improving conditions for local young people.

LONG BEACH — At their September coalition meeting, WellSpring Community Network awarded Funland their monthly asset builder award. On hand to receive the award was owner Don Epping who has owned Funland for the last 23 years.

“Funland has been a strong supporter of youth on the Long Beach Peninsula by not only offering them a safe, fun place to hang out but through generous donations of money, time and space to local groups and schools,” WellSpring said in a press release. “Recently, they hosted a Big Brothers Big Sisters end-of-the-year pizza party where over 40 ‘bigs’ and ‘littles’ enjoyed pizza and an hour’s worth of free games and laser tag. Thank you, Funland!”

Asset builders are awarded to individuals and businesses in our community who consistently strive to improve the lives of youth in our community by supporting the 40 Developmental Assets that have been identified as building blocks of development that help young children grow up healthy, caring and responsible.

WellSpring Community Network is a local coalition dedicated to supporting community wellness in South Pacific County through active collaborations. For more information about WellSpring Community Network or how to get involved, contact Lindsey Hylton at or 360-783-1090.
