SHELTON — Azalie Bahrt, a junior at Ilwaco High School, successfully completed the Kiwanis Law Enforcement Youth Career Camp in Shelton with special recognition for best overall attitude our of the 24 attending.

According to the WSP, “The purpose of the Kiwanis Youth camp is to provide selected high school juniors and seniors, with an interest in a career in law enforcement, an opportunity to explore the various areas of job opportunities in that field. It offers exposure to problems encountered by law enforcement officers on a daily basis and how to handle these situations in a professional manner.”

Bahrt said it was a great opportunity and some of her favorite classes included, “the shooting simulator, dive tank, and the interview and practical boards.” She continued, “The instructors were so passionate about their subjects and it made me want to learn more.”

She is the daughter of Brenda and Gary Bahrt of Seaview.

This camp is open to all teens between the ages of 15 and 18 and although there is no local Kiwanis Club in our area, the organization will find a Kiwanis Club to sponsor any interested youth. For detailed information go to www.wsp.wa.gov/community/kiwanis.htm.
