LONG BEACH — The Long Beach Peninsula Visitors Bureau recently honored Linda LeClaire as Volunteer of the Month.
She is one of the handfuls of volunteers who were actually raised here on the Long Beach Peninsula. Her father worked at Dennis Company and her mother owned a candy shop (Completely Nuts) that became well-known in its own right.
But her roots go yet deeper. One of her sisters is Kathy (LeClaire), married to Dale Hughes, who has owned and operated Chinook Marine Repair for over 40 years. Another sister, Karla (LeClaire) Nelson, has owned Time Enough Books with her husband Peter for 17 years. The bookstore has become a point of destination for many visitors who come to the area. The fourth LeClaire sister is Lisa, who lives in Washougal with her family.
Linda has two adult children who live and work in Seattle.
Linda is deeply involved in this community. She also volunteers for Friends of the Library and Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum.
Suz Overgaard, volunteer coordinator for the visitors bureau said, “Her knowledge and love of this area make her a valuable resource not only to the visitors she helps but to the other volunteers and staff. We are grateful to have someone with her knowledge and skill in helping families who are visiting this area. We are so pleased you joined our group of volunteers, Linda!”
