SEAVIEW — The Long Beach Peninsula Visitors Bureau honored Judy Uptmor as their Volunteer of the Month.

Uptmor has recently retired from Educational Opportunities for Children and Families in Vancouver after 20 years of work, but she has been visiting the Peninsula for years. Childhood memories of big family gatherings including fishing and clamming at the beach so Uptmor and her husband, Vic, decided to buy and fix up a dear old 100-year-old house in Seaview.

Judy and Vic have two sons, Chris and Kyle, and Judy spends part of her week in Vancouver.

Seaview is a perfect place for Uptmor — the beach, biking, gardening, salmon fishing, crabbing and clamming are amazing, and Vic and Judy love being out in their boat. Her Seaview neighbors are very special and Judy was one of instigators of the annual Fourth of July neighborhood parade.

Susie, one of her neighbors, is a volunteer at the Visitors Bureau and she suggested she try volunteering at the visitors bureau. Uptmor said she finds it rewarding to meet so many different people and to introduce them to the delights of our Peninsula and help them leave with happy memories of our beautiful area.

The Long Beach Peninsula is alway looking for friendly people to join their team of ambassadors. If you are interested, please contact Suze@funbeach.com or call 360-642-2400.
