PENINSULA — On Dec. 19, 2015, the Rotary Club of SW Pacific County Peninsula distributed more than 400 presents to local children through the Christmas Angels Program at Grays Harbor College in Ilwaco. The Christmas Angels program is designed to ensure local youth, who might not otherwise receive a present, have a box under their tree Christmas morning.

The Rotary Club focuses its giving on clothes, educational toys and books.

This year 205 children received presents, books and stockings. With the generous support from the community, over $5,000 dollars was raised and over 160 volunteer hours were donated. Christmas Angel trees were placed in local banks and shops starting at Thanksgiving with angel tags.

“The results were overwhelming and showed what a generous community this is,” the club said in a press release. “The Rotary Club of SW Pacific County would like to express its appreciation to all those who helped.”

The Peninsula Rotary’s Christmas Angels Golf tournament in September, hosted by Peninsula Golf Course and the Cove Restaurant, helped support the Christmas Angel and Shop with a Cop programs. Funds raised allow the Rotary to apply for matching grants increasing the amounts of donations.
