Conservation Districts are subdivisions of State Government that are directed by boards of five volunteer supervisors, three of whom are elected and two who are appointed. Supervisors direct district staff to provide technical assistance to landowners and are partnered with the Federal Natural Resource Conservation Service for additional assistance.

To be eligible to hold a Supervisor’s position, a candidate must occupy land within the Conservation District boundary or be in possession of land within the district boundary, as an owner, lessee, renter or tenant. A candidate must also be a qualified county elector and registered voter.

District supervisors represent land users and the general public in directing renewable resource conservation programs. They identify local conservation needs, set goals and oversee the implementation of plans to protect soil, water, wildlife and other renewable natural resources. Pacific Conservation District employs a 5 person staff.
