WESTPORT - Washington Sea Grant/WSU Cooperative Extension has scheduled CPR and First Aid workshops for commercial fishermen to help them comply with new Commercial Fishing Vessel Safety Act requirements.

The two, four-hour workshops will be held in Westport on Monday, Nov. 18, for CPR, and Tuesday, Nov. 19, for First Aid, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Fire Hall in Westport.

The Commercial Fishing Vessel Safety Act requires that a fishing vessel with more than two people on-board have at least one person trained in First Aid and CPR. Space is limited and pre-registration is advised. Cost for both workshops is $28, or $23 for just one session. Fishermen and Friends of Westport is covering the cost of the program for the first twenty participants.

To find out more about these workshops and to register, contact Steve Harbell, Washington Sea Grant/WSU Pacific County Cooperative Extension, Box 88, South Bend 98586, telephone (360) 875-9331.
