LONG BEACH — Returning for a second summer, Madeline Dickerson will be interning at the Chinook Observer from June until September.

A 2007 graduate of Ilwaco High School, Dickerson recently graduated from the University of Oregon with Bachelor of Arts degrees in journalism and cinema studies with a minor in multimedia studies.

She spent her senior year as the photo editor for Flux Magazine out of the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication. One of her stories there got her involved with a team of students to produce a story about the Columbia River Bar Pilots.

In early September, Dickerson will leave for Ireland for three months, where she will be working on two different organic farms through the WWOOF program (World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms). She plans to blog about her experience and hopefully have stories and photos published along her journey.

But until then, Dickerson is very excited to return to the Chinook Observer as she loves covering local events and learning more about her community.
