GRAPEVIEW - Donald R. Murdock, 72, died on March 4, 2003 in Grapeview. The son of Ray and Gladys (Johnson) Murdock, he was born March 31, 1930 in Willapa. He married Doris E. Phillips on March 1, 1952 in Astoria, Ore.

Mr. Murdock was in the Washington Air National Guard from 1954 through 1960. He later graduated with a four-year degree from the University of Puget Sound, and was a pilot for United Air Lines for 30 years.

To friends and family, he was an EIB graduate. He loved to fly, and was particularly fond of float planes. He and his family would fly into remote lakes in Canada for fishing and camping. He loved to be with his family and will be greatly missed. For many years he and his family had a summer home on the Long Beach Peninsula and spent a great deal of time there.

Survivors include: his wife Doris at the family home in Grapeview; daughters: Karen Wytko of Auburn, and Kimberly Smith of Colville; son: Scott Murdock of Auburn; sister Kaye Ray of Wenatchee; and grandchildren: Erin Lilly, Erik Murdock and Collin Murdock of Auburn.

A private service for family and friends has taken place. Arrangements under the direction of McComb Funeral Home in Shelton. Memorial donations can be made to: Louise Stephens Scholarship Fund, c/o Alice Clements, 220 Lily Wheaton Road, Raymond, WA 98577.
