Donated quilt to raise funds

A local quilt-maker has donated a quilt to help raise funds for a nonprofit organization in the Ocean Park community. The newly opened Blue Dolphin Center, located at 1401 N. Pacific Hwy., Long Beach, has generously donated space to hang the quilt and they are taking care of the raffle. Tickets are just $1 each. The drawing will run until the last day of Rod Run weekend, Sept. 11. You do not need to be present to win.

The fabric for the stars in the quilt came from material purchased at a bazaar and is probably from the '70s. The stars are hand-pieced and the quilt is hand-quilted, and is 88 inches by 108 inches so it will fit a queen or king size bed. It has hours and hours of labor and is a one of a kind!
