NASELLE - An early morning collision in Naselle last Thursday sent an Astoria resident to the hospital with a head injury.

At about 6:20 a.m., Kai Vaughn, 41, was driving a 2005 Kenworth truck and loaded log trailer westbound on State Route 4 when a deer entered the roadway. Vaughn swerved to the right to miss it and veered into the ditch. The vehicle then came to rest at the side of the road - on its passenger side. Damage was estimated to be about $5,000.

Vaughn was taken to Columbia Memorial Hospital, where his condition was not immediately available.
