ILWACO - Peggy Yamagata and Max Evans were inducted into the Ilwaco High School Wall of Fame Monday in ceremonies viewed by 300 IHS students and two dozen Kiwanis and well-wishers.

Evans said of the WOF selection, "This is the best award I have ever received," and Yamagata was quick to reiterate that thought.

Evans said of his words to the student body, "I hope I have inspired at least one more student to go to college." Yamagata added, "I hope I have given the students the courage to follow the dreams they choose."

The IHS WOF is sponsored by Ilwaco-Long Beach Kiwanis Club and endorsed by the Ocean Beach School Board. A panel of five Peninsula residents serves to select two new WOF recipients each year. Evans and Yamagata join 26 previous WOFers and their plaques will be on display at the entrance to IHS.

Evans retired in 1984 and is currently living in Jupiter, Florida.
