LONG BEACH A fresh seafood retail counter and casual dining with an island flair can now be found under one roof at Aloha Charlie Fish Company in downtown Long Beach.
A fish and shellfish retail shop and restaurant featuring local products and work from local artists, Aloha Charlie Fish Company opened for business on April 29.
Owner Charlie Gilbert says he wanted to open an eatery that would be a hit with locals and visitors by selling fresh seafood and serving delicious food that is made from scratch and prepared to order by chefs Eric Jenkins and Jenifer Chapman.
The Aloha Charlie menu features shrimp and crab cocktails, oyster shooters in souvenir shot glasses, fish and chips, steamer clams, seafood tacos, sandwiches, cheesebread, cioppino and clam chowder.
And for those who are craving the island flavor, they also serve musubi rice layered with teriyaki glaze and smoked fish or grilled Spam and bound together inside a nori (dried seaweed) wrapper.
Or if you prefer to take your seafood home, they sell fresh salmon, halibut, rockfish, mahi mahi, albacore and ahi tuna, shrimp, crab, oysters and steamer clams.
