PACIFIC COUNTY - As of Friday, May 15, Pacific County is still officially free of swine flu, though a case has now been confirmed in neighboring Lewis County.

According to the Washington State Department of Health, the statewide total of confirmed swine flu cases climbed to 361 on Friday, up from 176 on Monday. There are eight confirmed cases in Southwest Washington, including five in Clark County, two in Thurston County and one in Lewis, which is directly to the east of Pacific County.

All but eight of the statewide cases are in counties intersected by Interstate 5. The exceptions are Island, Yakima, Douglas and Spokane counties. Cowlitz County, where Longview is located, is the only I-5 county without flu.

Nationwide, there are 4,714 confirmed swine flu cases, including five deaths. Only Wyoming, Mississippi and West Virginia are still flu free.

There are 97 confirmed cases in Oregon on Friday. There are no cases in Clatsop or neighboring counties.
