Four generations celebrate Alma Carroll's birthday

Contributed photo
Multiple generations of her family recently celebrated Alma Carroll's 90th birthday at a party in her honor at Klipsan Beach.

KLIPSAN - Alma Carroll's recent 90th birthday celebration brought four generations of relatives from three states.

The celebratory party was held at Golden Sands Assisted Living Center where family and friends enjoyed oldies piano tunes by Barbara Bate.

Alma was born on Jan. 5, 1919, in Lafayette, Ore. Her father worked for the railroad, which required frequent moves during her childhood. At the age of 17, Alma left home to attend nursing school in Boise, Idaho.

Upon graduation she worked as an RN in the Navy and then for various hospitals in the Pacific Northwest.

In 1944 she married William Carroll and had three daughters, Kris Fulton, Karolyn Carroll and Mary Peters.

This birthday celebration was a gift from her daughters to their mother for a lifetime of love, laughter and a few moments of eccentricity.
