LONG BEACH - Long Beach resident Genevieve B. Crow, 91, died August 29, 2002 in Astoria, Ore. The daughter of William and Mary (Sanderson) Gilday, she was born July 23, 1911 in Fortuna, North Dakota. She was raised in Foxholm, North Dakota where she graduated from high school in 1928. She graduated from Minot (North Dakota) Teachers College in 1930.

Mrs. Crow taught grades one through 12 in one-room schoolhouses after graduation from college. In 1941 she moved to Anchorage, Alaska where she was an accountant/auditor for the Federal Aviation Administration from 1942 until 1967. Following retirement she moved to Long Beach to be near family.

She was a member of the Catholic church, BPOE No. 1351 of Anchorage and a member of Pioneers of Alaska, Igloo No. 15. She enjoyed gardening and sewing and was proud of her Alaska heritage.

Mrs. Crow is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Bryan and Anne Ekren of Long Beach; brother and sister-in-law Daniel and Marilyn Gilday of Phoenix, Ariz.; sister Adelaide Haner of Minot, North Dakota, sister and brother-in-law Marion and Elmer Gorde of Minot; grandchildren Bryan Ekren Jr., Christopher Ekren and Wendy Carlsberg; and great-granddaughters Cierra and Celena Carlsberg; she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Crow who she married September 2, 1955 in Anchorage; her parents; brothers William, Cyril and Duane Gilday; and sisters Helen Early and Dorothy Gilday.

Funeral service will be held in Anchorage with burial in the Elks Garden of Angelus Memorial Park in Anchorage. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 2680, North Canton, Ohio 44720. Local arrangements by Penttila's Chapel by The Sea, Long Beach.
