SHELTON - George Roderick Hibbert, 77, died April 25, 2003 in Shelton.

He was born April 26, 1926 in Toppenish to George and Tenny (Bewley) Hibbert.

He was in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1968 and earned the rank of master sergeant. He was a bank maintenance supervisor from 1979 to 1984 and the caretaker/manager of the Olympia Yacht Club until his retirement in 1995.

Mr. Hibbert enjoyed hunting and fishing, leather crafting, and jewelry making. He was an avid reader and an involved ESL tutor for those seeking citizenship. His grandfather was the founder of the Chinook Observer.

Survivors include his spouse Juanita M. Hibbert of Shelton, step-daughters Beverly Heinzen and Bethanie McGlumphy of Shelton and Lori Heinzen of Seaside, Calif.; son George Jeff Hibbert and his wife Atsuko of Tokyo, Japan, stepsons Patrick Heinzen of Seaside, Calif., and Bruce Heinzen of Travis Air Force Base, Calif., and eight grandchildren.

At his request there was no service. Arrangements under the direction of McComb Funeral Home.
