PENINSULA - A few nice folks got together Sunday in Ilwaco to whip up some snuggly blankets for the 16 Early Childhood Education Assistance Program pre-school students. The 3- to 5-year-olds began all-day classes last week and teacher Gail Moore, third from left, thought some blankets would be a good idea. "We started from scratch," Moore said. "We had mats and sheets and I thought blankets would be a good idea." She went to Martha Murfin who told her to go ahead and buy the blankets but they were pretty expensive, so she went to a fabric store in Astoria and purchased cozy printed material withmoney from the Peninsula Kids' Fund. On Sunday, Moore and members of Pacific Chapter 129 of the Order of Eastern Star, from left, Helen O'Neal, Judy Johnson, Moore, OES Worthy Matrol Lori Herman and Janet Herring, got their sewing machines going, hemming the fabric. For more information on ECEAP, which works with young children and their families, call 642-4089. The pre-school meets in the former Little Red Schoolhouse near Long Beach School.
