GRAYS RIVER - Grays River United Methodist Church is partnering with the United Methodist Committee on Relief [UMCOR] to bring needed supplies for children, adults, and cleanup volunteers in areas affected by Hurricane Katrina. United Methodists maintain a continuous relief operation in the U.S.A. and around the world.

Residents of Wahkiakum County and Naselle are encouraged to prepare supplies for one of the kits that will be packed at the Salmon Creek Methodist Church and sent to the UMCOR warehouse in Louisiana next Monday. The requested items, all unused, are, for the Health Kit: a washcloth, hand towel, comb, bath-size soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, and six sterile plastic bandage strips. Needed for the School Kit: blunt scissors, ruler, two-pads of ruled paper, a handheld pencil sharpener, six unsharpened pencils with erasers, one eraser, 12 sheets of colored construction paper, and a 24-count box of crayons. Children can work together with adults to prepare the kits. A larger Flood Bucket kit is also available; call for more information.

Donated items can be brought to the Grays River Methodist Church, 3624 SR 4, Grays River, on Saturday, Sept. 16 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., during the church's community barbecue. For pickup and other information, call Mary at 465-2493 or Barbara at 665-4421 or e-mail (marybee@willapabay.org).
