Happy 40th Anniversary!: Harpers celebrate 40th Wedding Anniversary

ILWACO - Alvin "Al" Harper and Cheryl Bickford were married on July 16, 1966, in Battleground.

Al attended the Washington School for the Blind and worked in special education through the Pasco School District for several years. The couple then opened A&C Meats at Dollars Corner. Later, they started Al's Burger Bar in Prescott. About 15 years ago they moved to South Pacific County where they settled in Ilwaco.

Al and Cheryl raised four children, daughters Genni (Bill) Currie, Marjie Rosco of Kennewick, Josie (Blaze) Opfar of Pasco, and son James (Janet) Harper of Chinook. They also have three grandchildren, Blaze, William, and Benjamin; three step-grandchildren Chris, Clint, and Jeremy; and one great-granddaughter, Jaque.

Much of their free time is spent volunteering with the Long Beach Lions Club. Al is a past district governor for the Lions and Cheryl is a past president.
