Heimbigner wins "Kiss Away Cancer" contest at Observer

LONG BEACH — The donation jars were tallied Friday and Chinook Observer reporter Kevin Heimbigner, right, received the most donations in his jar for the Observer’s “Kiss Away Cancer” contest.

Over the past two weeks, the public was given a chance to “vote” for the Observer employee they would like to see kiss a crab. In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, Heimbigner was a good sport and gave the crustacean a peck.

The “Kiss Away Cancer” contest raised $200 for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of the Long Beach Peninsula, which will be held at the Ilwaco track on June 24 and 25.

Thank you to Pierre Marchand at Jessie’s Ilwaco Fish for setting aside a picture-perfect crab for the cause.
