The National Weather Service has issued a high wind watch for the north and central Oregon coast and the south Washington coast.

The high wind watch will be in effect from Tuesday evening through Wednesday morning near beaches and headlands in the region.

South winds are expected at 30 to 40 miles per hour, with sustained winds of at least 40 miles per hour and with gusts of up to 60 miles per hour near beaches and headlands. The winds will likely increase late Tuesday evening and continue until around sunrise Wednesday.

Specific affected locations include the cities of Cannon Beach, Netarts, Pacific City, Lincoln City, Newport, Cape Foulweather, Yachats, Long Beach and Cape Disappointment, also the Newport Jetty, Cape Meares, and the Clatsop Spit.
