SEAVIEW - Baccalaureate exercises for the Ilwaco Class of 2004 were Sunday evening at the Peninsula Church Center with 36 graduating seniors in attendance. Pastor Tom Inserra of Upper Room Fellowship gave the address.

Ali Daulton and Alisa Patten began by reading Psalm 91. Kari Knutzen followed with a responsive reading from Joshua. Patrick Tomberlin and Rachel Mohler provided two special songs for those in attendance.

Lindsey Hylton and Jami Landeros read from Isaiah before Pastor Inserra's message. He quoted from the movie "Brave Heart," "Every man dies, but not every man really lives."

Pastor Inserra told the class, "God's glory has risen upon you seniors so you have something to live for. God has made you for excellence." Inserra concluded his often humorous message with a serious thought, "God did not promise that everything will be easy for you, but He will always be there with you because God loves you."

Bethany Suprunowski lead those assembled in the Lord's Prayer and Tommy Inserra, Jr. gave the benediction. The class left the sanctuary as a recessional was played on the organ by Suzanne Knutzen. A reception put on by the Ocean Beach Presbyterian Women's Association followed in the adjacent Social Hall.

A committee of Daulton, Hylton, Chelsea Gilgore, Rachel Zimmerman, Pastor Inserra, Pastor David George, Mace Kahlsdorf, Jeanette Provo and Marjorie Beard organized the baccalaureate exercise. Pastor Jacki Prest helped with greeting and Father Blaine Hammond operated the sound system.
