NORFOLK, Va. - On June 28, 2002, Maj. Pamela M. Peistrup, daughter of Edward and Sharon Peistrup of Ocean Park, graduated from the Joint and Combined Staff Officer Course (JCSOS) taught at the Joint Forces Staff College in Norfolk, Va.

The three-month program deals with the integrated strategic deployment, employment, and sustainment of air, land, sea, space, and special operations forces.

On Oct. 5, Peistrup won first place in the women's novice and second place in the women's open bodybuilding divisions during the Natural Hawaiian Islands Bodybuilding and Fitness Championships in Kahului, Hawaii. The competition was sponsored by the Amateur Bodybuilding Association and the International Natural Bodybuilding Association, two national organizations that ban the use of performance-enhancing substances.

On Oct. 12, Peistrup won first place in the women's lightweight division of the 2002 Armed Forces Invitational Bodybuilding Championship held at Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii.

And on Nov. 1, she will be promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Air Force. The promotion ceremony will be held at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
