WILLAPA BAY - An autopsy was conducted at the direction of Pacific County Coroner David Burke last week in Long Beach on unidentified human remains found March 9 on the tidal flats in Willapa Bay.

The autopsy, as well as dental records, established that the remains were those of John Paul Puglisi of Valparaiso, Ind., who disappeared Feb. 10.

His rental car was found near Milepost 22 on Highway 101 near the Willapa Wildlife Refuge. A U.S. Fish and Wildlife employee found his body near Milepost 23.

The coroner's office said cause of death was hypothermia and asphyxia by drowning, and was accidental.
