NASELLE - A poached deer was reported to Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Monday. The four-point blacktail deer had been shot during a closed deer season off Parpala Road between Dell Creek and Highway 401 in the Naselle area.

WDFW Officer Dan Chadwick said three officers investigated the incident. "The deer was shot early Monday morning and was just left," he said. The deer was found behind a closed gate.

Anyone with information about the incident can call Chadwick at (360) 581-3337. The identity of the caller will be kept confidential. If the information leads to an arrest, the informant is eligible for 10 bonus points for a special-permit drawing for deer or elk hunting or a monetary award, typically about $100, Chadwick said.

"I've been receiving information from hunters about seeing fewer and fewer deer over the past couple of years," Chadwick said. "This is an example of one of the many reasons why."
