John Lincoln Doll

CATHLAMET - John Lincoln Doll, 86, a resident of North River for many years, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004, in Cathlamet. Mr. Doll was born Feb. 13, 1917, in Astoria, Ore., son of Clyde L. and Hilda H. (Silvola) Doll.

Mr. Doll was raised in Naselle and graduated from Naselle High School in 1936. He went to work in the woods as a timber faller. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II in the 315th Troop Carrier Squadron in India, Burma and China. He went back into the service during the Korean War and served with the 2nd Division. He also served one year in Germany.

He married Pearl Hokkanen in 1958; she preceded him in death in 1991.

Mr. Doll worked for Weyerhaeuser Co., for 20 years as a cutter in the woods out of Cosmopolis. He belonged to the Grays Harbor Rifle and Pistol Club, the Westport Veterans of Foreign Wars and Solos, a widow and widower support group in Westport.

There will be no funeral at his request, but there will be a memorial at a later date. He will be interred at Fern Hill Cemetery in Aberdeen. Arrangements are by Fern Hill Funeral Home of Aberdeen.
