SOUTH BEND — A jury trial has been scheduled for April 25, 26 and 27 at Pacific County Superior Court for Michael P. Guggisberg, a Chinook resident who was arrested last year.

Guggisberg was charged with one count of second-degree domestic violence assault (with a deadly weapon); one count of second-degree domestic violence assault (by strangulation); one count of domestic violence unlawful imprisonment; and one count of domestic violence harassment (for threatening to kill his significant other and himself).

The incident allegedly occurred in Chinook on Nov. 5, 2010. The police seized several firearms from the home.

Pacific County Senior Deputy Prosecuting Attorney David Bustamante said in November that the state had originally asked for, and received, an arrest warrant with bail set in the amount of $50,000, but Guggisberg had “voluntarily appeared with his attorney ... and  ... persuaded Judge Michael Sullivan to lower the bail to $15,000, over the state’s objections.” Sullivan allowed him to post the deed of trust in lieu of a bond, Bustamante said, and he was released from custody.
