DEEP RIVER - Deep River Day Care is owned and operated by Kember "Kem" Chism, who has lived in the Naselle-Grays River area since August 2002.

She said she moved to Rosburg from Washington, D.C., in order to raise her daughter, Kristina, in a small-town environment.

Chism graduated from Toutle Lake High School in 1987, was a foreign exchange student to Finland, attended Lower Columbia College and then Eastern Washington University where she majored in English literature with a minor in teaching English as a second language. She has spent the last ten years working in the business field in the Washington, D.C. metro area.

As a single mother, she says she has felt the need for quality dependable child care. She is understanding of parents' daycare concerns and operates Deep River Day Care with her top priorities being providing a dependable, stimulating, safe and healthy environment for children to play and learn.

Deep River Day Care is state-licensed and accepts children from birth through age 11. Although located in a private home, a classroom, bathroom, and infant room are set aside strictly for daycare use, with additional shared space in the home. There is a fenced, grassy play-yard available, and a large covered deck so the outdoors can be enjoyed in any weather. Among the many learning opportunities provided at Deep River Day Care, children are introduced to foreign languages, such as Finnish, in this fun setting.

So, if you live in the Naselle-Grays River area and need quality childcare, call Deep River Day Care at (360) 465-2950.
