PENINSULA — Applications are due March 21 for the American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary Boys State and Girls State at Central Washington University.  These programs are open to any high school junior who is going onto their senior year.  The young people selected to attend will spend a week at Central Washington University learning about American government.

Girls State is held from June 12 to June 18; Boys State is held from June 19 to June 25. Participants will experience the nation’s premiere youth leadership and government program. They will build their very own government from the ground up. Students have the opportunity to live in a college dorm. They will experience working with other motivated boys or girls under supervision of people interested in helping them develop leadership skills. The American Legion and The American Legion Auxiliary pay tuition costs. Questions may be directed to Terry Bryan for Boys State at 642-2041 or Connie Soditus for Girls State at 665-6626.
