Accident knocks over power pole on Sandridge

A pickup truck ran into a major electricity pole at 195th and Sandridge Road and caused a power outage a little after 2 p.m. Friday. The front end of the truck was smashed in as far as the windshield but the driver escaped serious injuries, a witness reported. At 5:55 p.m. Friday, PUD estimated power would be out for up to eight hours for the area north of 180th and Sandridge and everything north of the main highway from Bay Avenue in Ocean Park. Repairs necessitate powering down the substation that supplies the north end of the Peninsula.
