PENINSULA — The Wellspring Community Network is inviting businesses, schools, nonprofits, faith-based organizations, and community members to participate in Red Ribbon Week Oct. 23 through Oct. 31.

In celebration, WellSpring members and volunteers will be decorating the Peninsula with red ribbons. Businesses might choose to offer Red Ribbon Week specials. Community members can wear red satin ribbons to show their support.

Red Ribbon Week is the oldest and largest drug prevention campaign in the country. The event serves as a vehicle for communities and individuals to take a stand against drugs and make a commitment to drug prevention and education in our community.

Red Ribbon Week commemorates the ultimate sacrifice made by DEA Special Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena, who died at the hands of drug traffickers in Mexico while fighting the battle against illegal drugs to keep our country and children safe.

WellSpring Community Network is a local coalition dedicated to supporting community wellness in South Pacific County through active collaborations. For more information about WellSpring or how to get involved, visit or contact Vinessa Karnofski at 360-642-9349.
