NASELLE — While investigating a report of a “suspicious person” on May 25, police discovered a body.

At about 8 p.m., the Pacific County Sheriff’s Office personnel were called to a business near the intersection of State Route Four and State Route 401 in Naselle. The caller said he had noticed that an unfamiliar man was still in the same spot where he had been observed the day before.

Sheriff Scott Johnson inspected the area, and found the man’s body in the tall grass near the business.

Officers from Long Beach Police and Washington State Patrol assisted with a death investigation, which closed the surrounding area for several hours.

The investigation is ongoing, but police do not suspect any type of foul play, according to a statement posted on the PCSO Facebook page. The name of the deceased man will not be released until next of kin have been notified.
