Lighthouse reopening

Barring unforeseen events, North Head Lighthouse — along with its grounds, bookstore and trails — will reopen to the public this Thursday, Aug. 22, according to Washington State Parks. The lighthouse, which is owned by Washington state, has undergone a remarkable renovation that includes for the first time making the site accessible to people using wheelchairs. A Discover Pass is required to park in the lighthouse’s lot. The park system has been experiencing technical difficulties with its on-site pass-purchase machines for a couple weeks, so it would be advisable to purchase one online or at an authorized dealer. See for details. (However, people with official disabled parking permits are exempt from Discover Pass requirements in state parks.)
