ILWACO — An Ocean Beach School District bus that was carrying students was involved in a non-injury two-vehicle collision near the KOA Campground on Thursday morning.
The crash occurred just after 8 a.m., while the bus was traveling southbound on Highway 101 near milepost nine, according to a Washington State Patrol collision report. Neither driver had been using drugs or alcohol, and both drivers were wearing their seatbelts.
According to the report, a woman from Portland was driving northbound on Highway 101 in her 2004 Volvo, when bus driver, Bjarno Guglielmetti, 74, attempted to turn left onto Highway 101 Alternate. The 1999 Bluebird school bus and the Volvo collided in the northbound lane.
Responders from WSP and the Pacific County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene of the crash. While no one was injured, both vehicles had to be towed from the scene. According to the report, Guglielmetti was cited for failure to yield right-of-way.
