LONG BEACH — The Long Beach Police Department arrested Coast Guardsman Jordan R. Wekenborg-Garcia, 31 of Long Beach, on Jan. 12 for three counts of first-degree rape of a child.
The arrest was a result of an investigation conducted by LBPD, Washington State Child Protective Services and the U.S. Coast Guard after a victim told a fellow student at school she was having sex with an adult.
During the investigation, Wekenborg-Garcia admitted to investigators that he had been involved in sexual activity with the 10-year-old at least 6-7 times.
According to court documents, the activity is believed to have been as far back as when the child was 4-years-old and happened as recently as Dec. 26, 2021
Wekenborg-Garcia made his preliminary appearance in Pacific County Superior Court on Jan. 13, where he was appointed indigent defense attorney David Arcuri and his bail was set at $1 million by Judge Don Richter.
In the meantime, CPS has removed the victim from her home and placed her in protective custody.
Richter also issued a sexual assault protection order barring Wekenborg-Garcia from contacting his alleged victim by any means.
