Rockfall closes SR401

As of Nov. 2, an Oct. 27 rockfall between mileposts 2 and 3 continued to impact the eastbound lane of Washington State Route 401 east of the Dismal Nitch rest area. Highway reopening awaits an analysis by WSDOT geologists to ensure more of the steep slope above is stable and unlikely to fall on motorists.
