SEAVIEW — Its driver was injured and a 2009 Peterbilt tractor-trailer rig was totaled at about 6:10 a.m. Monday, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The semi overturned east of Seaview at about milepost 16 on U.S. Highway 101.
"The vehicle left the roadway to the right and went into the ditch and rolled. Vehicle one came to rest in the ditch on its side," according to a state patrol report.
Michael J. Olson, 30, of Ellensburg, was injured and transported to Ocean Beach Hospital in Ilwaco. There was no immediate word about his condition. He was wearing his seatbelt and no alcohol was involved in the wreck, the state patrol said.
The cause of the accident was inattention and Olson is charged with "wheels off the roadway," state patrol said.
The semi was impounded by Hill's Towing in Ocean Park, which responded to the scene about 9:10 a.m. A passing motorist said at 11:20 a.m. the the salvage work was still in progress.
"At 11 a.m., the road was blocked and we had to wait for the pilot truck to lead us by the accident. The large tow truck were still there, along with at least part of the trailer still in the ditch. We were stopped for over 15 minutes with traffic stopped in both directions," a motorist said.
